Catagories of Music Videos

Narrative is where there is usually a storyline throughout the whole video, this can normally be seen with a romantic song as is it normally a love story, the genre these tend to fall is is: rock, RnB and pop. An example of this could be Taylor Swift's love story as its about her and a boy who want to be together and then at the end they finally do.


Concept is where a music video has one theme to it throughout this is a very rare form of music video and doesnt normally fall into any specific genre as it could be used for any. An example of this could be Katy Perry's California Girls as the whole way through the video it shows her in a magic sweet land as a board game.


Performance is where a band is usually playing in the video, this can usually be seen in the genre rock as they are normally playing at gigs. An example of this can be You Me At Six's Underdog as the whole way through it shows them playing in their band.
