Digipaks Research

A digipak is a printed card packaging that is made to fit a CD disc into it, these can be made for various requirements and draws in the customers attention as to how colourful and attractive they are. They have a fold out design that normally includes additional information about the band or lyrics to the artists songs that are on the CD.

This digipak is for Rihanna's album called LOUD. There are many pastel colours and roses which could emphasis the fact that the album could be about love as all of the colours compliment each other, however this is a contrast to the title of the album as it is called loud. With trying to decode the album cover a buyer would get the influence that it is relaxing and romantic, due to all of the soft colours. The picture on the front cover is a close up of Rhianna looking down, this shows her as being very quiet and shy but actually she must be very loud as this is the name of her album and all of her music must be loud. The layout is very simple with a picture and the wording at the bottom of the cover. The font is very soft and light to go with all of the other colours that are used in this digipak.

This digipak is for Katy Perry's Teenage Dreams album. On the outside of the digipak it shows Katy laying naked on a cloud of candyfloss showing how she is very soft and sweet. The colours are all very soft and delicate and relate to the way that she is looking in the picture on the front cover. When you open the digipak it shows very different dark colours and is a very big contrast to the front cover, this could show how everything on the outside looks very sweet but on the inside it can be a different story. The pictures on the inside cover show how she is dressed up as Queen with a crown on, this could show that she thinks that she is the Queen of pop music. This is the first digipak to smell like candyfloss as this goes with the front cover and emphases the fact that she is soft and sweet.
